"Embodyment gives the
experience of several intimate
yoga classes in one.
It is a gift to your whole self.
It offers an experience that gives
a sense of peace, tranquility,
and transcendence.
My personal experience with
Embodyment has allowed me
to relish the deep connection
between mind and body."

What
Is Embodyment?
Easier than a yoga class, more deeply relaxing than a massage!
Embodyment is a gift handed down to us by our teacher, the founder
of Svaroopa yoga, Rama Berch. It incorporates the deepest elements
of Svaroopa yoga. In a one-hour, one-on-one session, your therapist
works to facilitate the release of deeply-held tensions in your body.
An Embodyment session is deeply relaxing, restorative, and transformative.
In one hour, you receive benefits equivalent to what several yoga
classes might bring.
What Is an Embodyment Session Like?
The session begins with you resting in a fully-supported relaxation
pose (called shavasana). Your therapist makes sure you are comfortable,
giving you the usual adjustments to deepen your relaxation. Then,
your therapist applies a simple but profoundly effective hands-on
technique that enables your whole body to release deeply-held tensions,
especially those held in the muscles along base of the spine. Near
the end of the session, to carry the changes through the rest of the
spine, the therapist massages the muscles along both sides of your
spine, from the base of the spine toward the neck and shoulders.
How Will I Feel Afterward?
As with any other type of therapy, the response is unique to each
individual. However, we often hear clients say things such as that
they feel taller, lighter, or, as one client put it, "aerated."
One client remarked that it feels like "the taste of the very
best chocolate." Another said it was like "the fragrance
of freshly baked bread." Still another: "I never knew I
could feel this relaxed!"
For a while after the session, to let the benefits take hold, we recommend
you keep a light schedule, with no heavy physical work or exercise.
This also gives you the opportunity to become aware of any subtle
changes in your whole being.
How Often Should I receive Embodyment?
At least once for the Experience!
Ideally, we recommend at least one session per semester, especially
for those of you practicing at the deeper, experienced, and advanced
levels. Many of our students receive sessions regularly, from once
a week to once every four to six weeks.
If you are physically challenged by a particular injury or discomfort,
or feeling "stuck" physically, emotionally, or even spiritually,
we often recommend a special series of sessions called "overlap
healing." These consist of ten sessions over a two to three week
period, in addition to your regular yoga classes.
How Much Does a Session Cost?
A single Embodyment session is $55. You can purchase a series
of ten sessions ("overlap healing") for $499. With Nancy
or Phil, for $65 you can receive Embodyment plus yoga therapy, which
includes several assisted yoga poses chosen to fit your particular
needs.
It gives us a great pleasure to be able to share this with you, and
we hope that everyone can enjoy the experience.

can bring you a deeper experience of the many benefits of yoga.
